Join Nature and Human Health Utah and the Salt Lake City REI Store for a special screening of The Nature Dose, a new short documentary from The Redford Center and the REI Cooperative Action Fund exploring a simple but powerful idea: nature is essential to human health, and access to it should be a priority for everyone.
Directed by Andrew Nadkarni, The Nature Dose follows three leaders working at the intersection of nature and human health: forest ecologist Nalini Nadkarni, public health researcher Jay Maddock, and environmental health scientist Jennifer D. Roberts. Through their work, the film explores the growing science behind nature’s health benefits and the many ways communities are putting that knowledge into practice. Viewers will see approaches ranging from nature prescriptions and virtual reality research to community efforts restoring green space in Buffalo, New York, while considering what happens when access to nature is limited or taken away.
The 11-minute film is part of Our Nature Connection, a short film series created by The Redford Center and REI Cooperative Action Fund to highlight people and communities strengthening relationships with the natural world and showing how nature can support health, well-being, resilience, and belonging. Following the screening, attendees will have an opportunity to continue the conversation and reflect on what these ideas could mean for individuals and communities here in Utah.
