Measuring Nature’s Impact on the Brain

Researchers at the University of Utah’s Applied Cognition Lab are using EEG to study how the brain responds to time in nature. Led by psychologist David Strayer, the team found that being outdoors without digital distractions improves attention, reduces stress, and boosts creativity. They are also using virtual reality to study these effects in hospital patients, bringing new insight into how nature supports mental well-being.
